Anti-Aging Night Cream Recipe

Buying a good quality night cream can burn a hole in your pocket. It is difficult to find a single night cream that offers complete nurturing. Some creams give skin whitening benefits, some creams lessen aging effects, while some cure dark circles. But to find one product that does it all can be a battle.

But do you need to buy a dozen night creams for an all round care? Not at all! If you go through the ingredients list of your night cream, you will come across some similar names, such as vitamin E, aloe vera, squalene, glycerine etc. You can find all these ingredients in your kitchen!

There are so many choices when it comes to lotion ingredients (like various butter choices and carrier oil choices).

I use a light floral hydrosol and essential oil in my favorite rose lotion, but I wanted to create a DIY lotion recipe that was customized to be used as a night cream. This anti-aging night cream recipe uses ingredients that have been shown to reduce and prevent the appearance of wrinkles and aging skin.

Olive oil is the main ingredient in this homemade cream. It locks the moisture of the skin. The other active ingredient sweet almond oil, rosehip oil, lemon essential oil, geranium essential oil. It adds to both the health and the beauty of your skin. Vitamin E in this night cream repairs and protects the skin.

Dryness is the #1 cause of wrinkles, so we need to focus on hydrating our skin in a healthy way. This is why this recipe for DIY anti aging cream works so well, but it also works wonders for sunburns and light eczema; which are also related to dryness. You could use it for just about anything though because it’s gentle and safe for any skin!

One of my favorite ways to adapt the base recipe above is to add skin-healing vitamins to the mix. You can add 1 ounce each of Vitamin E and liquid Vitamin A (in the form of rosehip seed oil.) for soothing and nourishing additions.

This lotion feels slightly thick going on because of the cocoa butter and sweet almond oil, but it sinks into skin very nicely after a few minutes, leaving your skin super soft! The rosehip seed oil is a “dry’ oil, so it really helps the product to absorb quickly. You can also use evening primrose oil if you’d like, as it’s also very good for promoting youthful looking skin.

  • 5 grams or ½ T Beeswax Pellets (naturally and sustainably-sourced beeswax pellets)
  • 12 drops Geranium Essential Oil (organic geranium essential oil)
  • 41 grams or 3 T Sweet Almond Oil (organic, unrefined sweet almond oil)
  • 5 grams or 2 ½ Cocoa Butter Wafers (organic, unrefined cocoa butter wafers)
  • 5 drops Carrot Seed Essential Oil (different than carrot seed carrier oil used in Scratch Mommy founder Jess's Pronounce Skincare Face Serum, use organic carrot seed essential oil in this recipe)
  • ¼ cup Water or Floral Hydrosol (I often use rose water, but lavender or calendula infused water would also work well; check out Founder Jess's Pronounce Skincare Rose Water, too)
  • ¼ tsp Vitamin E Oil (non-GMO Vitamin E)
  • 25 drops Lemon Essential Oil (organic lemon essential oil)
  • 13 grams or 1 T Rosehip Seed Oil or Evening Primrose Oil (organic cold-pressed rosehip seed oil &/or organic cold-pressed evening primrose oil)
  1. First Add the cocoa butter, beeswax, rosehip seed or evening primrose oil, and sweet almond oil to a medium sized glass bowl. Place the glass bowl on top of a saucepan half full of water on the stove to make a double boiler.
  2. Then Turn the stove on to medium high and stir the oil mixture occasionally until everything is melted and combined in a saucepan on low heat until it is melted.
  3. Remove the glass bowl from the heat and add the vitamin E and essential oils, stirring gently to combine.Crush the vitamin E capsules and add to the saucepan. Allow it to cool.Pour the liquid oil and butter mixture into your blender or stand mixer bowl. I find that using a blender helps keep the oil from separating much better than a mixer.
  4. Place the oil in the fridge for about 10 minutes, or until creamy looking, but not solid.Allow it to cool.Start your blender, or use the stand mixer with the whisk attachment and slooowly drizzle the water or hydrosol in while it's running on high. Continue mixing/blending until it's a thick lotion.Once well mixed, store in a class jar or glass salve container in a cool place so the coconut oil remains hardened.
  5. Store in fridge or cool place anda super clean glass jar, apply to the face, preferably at night.enjoy at least once per day. Make fresh each week. You can use this for 2-3 months. enjoy it! you can have health skin
