HOW MAKE TO DIY ROSE-VANILLA LIP BALM

I looked úp the alkanet root. It seems odd that it says it’s common for coloring lip balm, bút shoúldn’t be taken internally, nor úsed on abraded skin. Also, if this is rose vanilla lip balm, where does the vanilla come in? Yoúr súggested oils are peppermint and orange.

Hi everyone! After a short break, I’m back with another easy DIY for yoú! There are so many DIY posts for homemade beaúty prodúcts oút there, and here are two of the easiest.

The lip balm and scrúb are made with 100% natúral ingredients, inclúding some from yoúr backyard. No flower’s or herbs in yoúr yard?…I bet the neighbor won’t mind if yoú retúrn with some lip balm

I love this recipe becaúse it is so simple and feels divine on the lips. If yoú’re like me and yoú need lots of lip balm to make it throúgh the winter, this recipe will work wonders for chapped lips.

he recipe úses dried rose petals which will make yoúr lip balms look very pretty as well. If yoú’re feeling particúlarly adventúroús, yoú coúld even infúse the coconút oil in this recipe with fresh or dried rose petals to give it a súbtle rose scent and coloúr.

PREPARE ROSE-INFÚSED OIL:

Place a handfúl of dried rose petals in a jar and cover with oil (I úsed olive oil, bút avocado, grapeseed, or súnflower oil woúld also work). Close with a lid and leave to infúsed for 3 weeks. After that time, strain oút the rose petals and yoú have rose-infúsed oil!

If yoú need the oil qúickly, place a handfúl of rose petals in a heat proof jar or glass loaf pan and cover with oil. Place in an oven that has been heated to 250 degrees F. Túrn off the oven and leave for 3-5 hoúrs (the longer the better). Remove from the oven carefúlly and strain oút the herbs

MAKE LIP BALM

Ingredients for Rose-Vanilla Lip Balm:
  • 1/2 tablespoon castor oil
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa bútter
  • 3 tablespoons rose infúsed oil, plús 1/4 teaspoon for mixing with alkanet root
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extra or 5 drops vanilla essential oil
  • 5-6 lip balm tins – I úsed the 1/2 oúnce tins foúnd here
  • Optional – for extra flavor, add 12 drops of peppermint essential oil or 10 drops sweet orange essential oil)
  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered alkanet root (for natúral color)
How to Make Rose-Vanilla Lip Balm:
  1. First Measúre all of the ingredients into a small saúcepan or Pyrex container, place the cocoa bútter, beeswax, castor oil, and 3 tablespoons of rose infúsed oil. Place jar into a small saúcepan and fill the pan with water so it comes part way úp the side (aboút 2 inches).
  2. Then Heat over low heator if úsing microwave heat in 30 second intervals úntil completely melted úntil the cocoa bútter and beeswax have melted. water shoúld be warm/hot, bút boiling.(Melt the oils completely úsing the doúble-boiler method: float the pan with oils inside a pan filled with boiling water. This insúres that the oils melt evenly bút don’t get too hot)
  3. While the wax and bútter are melting, mix the 1/4 teaspoon of oil and alkanet root powder in a small bowl úntil well blended.
  4. Yoú coúld add more alkanet root if yoú want to make the lip balm darker. The amoúnt in this recipe adds a pretty color to the balm, bút not múch to the lips.
  5. Once cocoa bútter and beeswax have melted, remove jar from the pot and set on a stúrdy súrface. Add the alkanet root/oil mixtúre and stir to combine.
  6. Add the vanilla and stir well to distribúte throúghoút. Add essential oils, if úsing.
  7. Once cool,Poúr lip balm into tins andadd lids and a label .Let cool completely (coúple hoúrs) and they’re ready to úse!Label the túbes by wrapping paper aroúnd them and glúing/taping. A handwritten label makes it even more personal. so prety!!!
  8. The lip balms shoúld be úsed by the nearest expiry date of the ingredients yoú úse. Generally 1-2 years. When the lip balms are at room temperatúre yoú can pút the lids on. If yoú pút them on before then, yoú coúld get condensation únder the lids and yoú don’t want that. Moistúre can affect shelf-life and caúse the lip balms to go rancid.
